DanceLife Unite is a new generation dance competition that offers a platform for dance studios and their students from across Australia to showcase their high quality work in front of respected and experienced industry experts.
This new wave of dance competition was created in 2009 to fill a missing hole in the dance industry. It’s a competition unlike any others before it – a competition where talented dancers not only perform in a professional arena, but receive constructive feedback and recognition from a panel of top industry professionals. And with more and more dance-based television shows and films – So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with the Stars, FAME and Step Up, to name just a few – attracting wide audiences in the past five years, the outlet of dance has never been more popular.
New Managing Director Chris Duncan shares founder Clint Salter’s vision of creating a platform to motivate, challenge and inspire Australia’s up and coming dancers. “I have always danced, taught, choreographed and now I judge dance comps. It is a privilege to be able to support the dance community by bringing such a high calibre competition to the field such as DanceLife Unite.”
Previous expert judges included Sarah Boulter (Celine Dion Dancer and Choreographer), Jason Winters (Mia Michaels’ assistant and SYTYCD Choreographer), Nathan Wright (Avenue Q choreographer), Jason Duff (Jersey Boys resident choreographer), Juliette Verne (Choreographer), Debbie Ellis (Choreographer and Teacher), Josh Horner (Disney Choreographer), Amy Campbell (SYTYCD & Fame) and Aleeta Northey (Choreographer). Joining these judges is a number of industry experts including PJ Clarke from Jeep Management, Christine Denny from Tapatak Oz and Tia Jordan from Audition Guru. All our judges have the experience and will bring a unique and beneficial element to the competition.
Unlike any other dance competition in Australia, DanceLife Unite offers prizes valued at over $10,000. Prizes to be given away across the competition include dance workshops, cash, gift certificates and dance products will also be awarded.
DanceLife Unite 2012 will be held on Saturday 19, Sunday 20, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 May 2012. The competition is open to the public and will be held at The Science Theatre, University New South Wales, Anzac Parade, Kensington.
